The current British Standard Code of Practice regarding earthing is BS 7430:1998 (ISBN 0 580 28229 5).
Relevant Legislation
The general provisions in the Electricity Supply Regulations apply to both overhead and underground systems of supply. The regulations require at least one point of every system to be connected with Earth.
- Regulations 4 to 8 of the current Electricity Supply Regulations
- The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
Nimbus Services
- Soil Resistivity Surveys (carried out to determine site specific earthing requirements)
- Design of site specific earthing systems based on known local soil resistivity or the results of a Soil Resistivity Survey.
- Installation of earthing systems for (but not limited to):
- Standby Generators
- Static (complete with disconnect assemblies for tanker loading/off loading)
- LV and HV supply systems
- Technical Earthing for equipment sensitive to fault currents
- Transformers
- Feeder Pillars
- Telecommunications Systems
- Railway and Tram Lines
- Deep drilled boreholes, (where poor soil resistivity or limited available space prevails), up to 100m deep and back-filled with conductive slurry or conductive cement.
