There are several Lightning Protection Systems which are extensively used world-wide which do not form part of the current British Standard BS EN 62305:2006. These systems provide an alternative solution to protecting structures where the installations of a BS System may not be feasible or viable.

Nimbus Lightning Protection’s senior management have over many years offered “ESE” Systems to clients in particular the Helita Pulsar System manufactured by Soule of France.

The Helita Pulsar is a world wide established Lightning Protection device and Nimbus Lightning Protection Limited is an approved Helita installation contractor.

The benefits of a Pulsar system include:

• More aesthetically pleasing. The Pulsar only requires a single down conductor and earth termination to provide a path to earth.
• Cheaper to install and maintain. As roof conductors, down conductors and earth terminations are less in number the cost of maintenance is reduced.
• The Pulsar (as opposed to other ESE devices) benefits form a BSI Test Report No. 227/5069 and is certified by the Laboratory of IREQ (Institut de Recherché d’Hydro-Quebec ) and LCIE (Laboratoire Central des Industries Electriques ).
• As the number of roof conductors, down conductors and earth terminations are reduced, the system has a low carbon footprint (Based on using the Carbon Trust Methodology).
